Beautiful Skin and Las Vegas Summers

We love the summer months(ok this maybe objective in Las Vegas especially with our 110 degree temperatures)..enjoying the outdoors ,barbeques , poolside sun bathing, family and friends. This is a time for a lot of skin and how you take care of your skin in the summer months should take priority.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize: We tend to remember to do this in the winter months, but its equally important in the summer especially if you live in the desert. Use organic(whenver possible) body wash followed by applying ample moisturizing lotion right after you get out of the shower. Your skin is better equipped to absorb the lotion right after a shower. Moisturizing also helps your skin to maintain that “tanned look without actually damaging your skin cells, thanks to the invention of gradual tanning lotions…helping to nourish the skin and also imparting a healthy glow without the sun.

Hydrating: We know that this seems like a no brainer…especially in Las Vegas but there are large numbers of emergencies that come out of not keeping the body properly hydrated with just good old fashioned water. Whether you are just on the job or exercising…keep a bottle of water close to remind you to drink. Your body and also your skin will thank you..drinking adequate water also helps you regulate hunger cravings.

Protecting Against Sunburns: If battling sunburns, aloe based lotions maybe a great start. Apply generously. Peeling skin would also benefit from this and also a gentle exfoliant followed by a great moisturizer…water based. Use light, breezy fabrics during the day and stay under the shade, when possible, if you are out doors.

Diet: According to Dr Oz..eating red and orange foods that are full of beta carotene and lycopene offer natural protection from the sun in addition to using sunscreen. Green tea also contains catechins that protect against UV damage. Lots of green, leafy vegetables are also know to be great natural sunscreens. So eat your veggies!

Exfoliate: Winters don’t only bring about dry skin…it also happens in the summer. There are many scrubs and products that help exfoliate at home or you can get treatments at a day spa. A regular facial also helps encourage healthy skin, glowy skin. We provide complimentary skin consultations for all skin types. Feel free to call us with questions.

Have a great summer everyone…Every moment is precious!
